What the fox did simply overlook

Is that if her plan did fail
she had no protection, no support
from folk in Hatterdale

Although she was not rich or grand
and her temper had turned stale
it would have been better to let lie
her place in Hatterdale

For you see the cow was not quite done
with her role within this tale
and her form did rise again one night
from the grave in Hatterdale.

And when her corpse went dripping
and flailing towards the rail
where the fox had declared her kingdom
in the fields of Hatterdale

Not an animal and not a soul

Did move to greet her wail
the fox had it coming, they all agreed
that night in Hatterdale

The fox you see, had not considered
consequences of this scale
and she really did, as she slipped away
think she hated Hatterdale.
